Medicare Guide

Tonda Bradshaw, DO with senior patient

Seniors on Medicare parts A&B are able to use their insurance at Redlands Yucaipa Medical Group. The group also accepts many Medicare plans including Medicare Advantage plans, Medicare PPOs/supplemental plans.

Medicare Advantage Plans

Additional medical services are covered through Medicare Advantage plans that are not paid for under parts A & B of Original Medicare. The Advantage plans we accept also limit your annual out-of-pocket costs and include prescription drug coverage. Private insurance companies contract with Medicare to provide you with all of your Part A and Part B benefits through Medicare Advantage plans.

Medicare Advantage Plans Accepted

  • AARP by United/Secure Horizons including Focus and Medicare Complete Plans
  • Aetna
  • Blue Shield  including 65 Plus and Choice Plans
  • Health Net Senior including the Gold plan
  • IEHP – available only for people on both Medi-Cal and Medicare
  • InterValley
  • United HealthCare (listed under AARP above)
  • SCAN Health Plan

Original Medicare

Seniors on parts A&B only are able to call to schedule an appointment at any time. Without additional supplemental coverage (an Advantage plan or PPO plan) they will pay 20% of the cost of the doctor’s visit.

Medicare Supplemental Plans (Medi-Gap or PPO plans)

Some people choose a Medicare supplemental plan that picks up the costs (20%) not covered by original Medicare. There is a monthly cost for these plans, plus participants need to buy a separate Part D plan to cover prescription costs. Usually people that can afford an extra $150-$200 per month for coverage that want to be able to walk-in to any Medicare office choose these types of plans.

Medicare Plan Comparison Service

Benefits vary in the different plans. We are recommending an independent service that can assist you with choosing the plan that will best meet your needs. Insurance representatives from a licensed agency we know and trust can review all of the Medicare plans in one visit with you to:

  • Compare the benefits & costs of multiple Medicare plans
  • Help you find the plan that saves you the most money
  • Review drug coverage & find out if your prescriptions are covered

Our Medicare patients have told us this service has been extremely helpful so we are now offering it to you. Please call our patient liaison at (909) 557-2525 for more information about this service.
